First Deliverable


For the first deliverable, we tested out some stylized environment assets from the Unreal Marketplace. Our concern was that because all the assets were made by different people, they would look awkward together in a map. We used a toon shader to overlay on all the assets to try to fudge this a bit. We think they will work together nicely!


We setup an old character model from a project that we put on the shelf a few years ago. It's rigged with a basic free walking animation from Mixamo. We're playing around with the camera angle and closeness to the character model.


We also have a very basic but functional interaction system going. You can pick up a mask and it will be place on your face. A prompt UI widget shows up once the character is at a specific range from the object. We plan to add an outline or highlight shader on interactables objects to make them stand out from props in the map and give the character the ability to drop objects as well.


We also did a bit of level design and are trying to find the right metrics for how big the workshop should be vs. Abuelito's house. 


We also experimenting with skyboxes and how they change with a day/night cycle.  We found a nice painterly style day skybox that fits the mood we want to take the environment.
